Heute werden wieder - unter dem Motto This Is Pop - neue Alben vorgestellt. Zwei Stunden gefüllt mit (Post)Punk, New Wave, Indie, Gitarrenpop, Balkanbeats und was sonst noch passt, z.B. Konzerthinweise.
Heute stehen zwei Johns im Blickpunkt, John Flansburgh und John Linnell, die beiden Multiinstumentalisten gründeten 1982 in Brooklyn das Duo TMBG. Dank ihrer kurzen, mit abgedrehten Wortwitz gespickten, Songs zwischen Polka, Folk und Punk-Attitüde (R.E.M. meets DEVO), schuffen TMBG eine eigene Welt. Ihr „Dial-A-Song“ war damals auch eine tolle Sache, ein TMBG Song wurde auf den Anrufbeantworter gespielt und konnte dann unter einer bestimmten Telefonnummer abgehört werden, auch wenn das jetzt rückblickend im Internetzeitalter etwas altbacken wirkt. Aktuell wird das 3. TMBG Album "Flood" nach 25 Jahren wiederveröffentlicht. Ob Mindestlohn, Schiffe die auf Grund laufen oder rassistische Freunde („man kann nicht dem Teufel die Hand schütteln und sagen, es wäre nur ein Jux“), die Texte von TMBG haben auch nach 25 Jahren absolut nichts von ihrer Aktualität verloren. Achtung Plattenspielerbesitzer/in: das "Flood" Album (Vinyl & Klappcover), u.a. mit dem Hit "Birdhouse in your soul", gilt es heute zu gewinnen. Neben Musik von TMBG gibt es noch noch einige Konzerthinweise.
